Our Message

Good News!

We are disciples of Jesus. The Message we announce is the Message Jesus announced. The Message Jesus announced was this... "the Kingdom of God is near so turn from your sin to God."

At Reach, we repeatedly teach and preach one big idea... the Gospel of the Kingdom of God and the Lord Jesus.

The Gospel of the Kingdom and the Lord Jesus

In the beginning, God was King over all creation. God created humans for a relationship with Himself. The problem... creation rebelled. We wanted to be King! Spiritual beings in heaven and human beings in the Garden of Eden both rebelled against God.

As a result, the Kingdom of Darkness led by the Devil and fallen angels caused destruction. Humans became broken people (sinful nature and spiritually dead), our relationships with God and each other were broken, and creation itself was broken. The world was broken and ruled by the Kingdom of Darkness.

But God...

Despite our rebellion, God loved us with an everlasting love! God went on a mission to redeem and restore the world by defeating the Kingdom of Darkness and establishing the Kingdom of God. God's plan to establish His Kingdom... Jesus.

God the Father sent Jesus from Heaven to earth. Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfect life, died on a cross in our place, and satisfied the wrath of God against the sin of humanity. Three days later, God the Father raised Jesus from the dead! The risen King Jesus won the victory over the Kingdom of Darkness.

The resurrected King Jesus then sent His disciples on a world wide mission to tell all nations that He is alive. After commissioning His followers, Jesus ascended to the right hand of God and was enthroned as King. On the Day of Pentecost, Jesus poured out His Spirit from Heaven into the hearts of His disciples. Jesus began to live His life in and through His disciples.

For now, Jesus is still enthroned in heaven and His disciples are still telling all nations the Gospel. But a day is coming soon when Jesus will return to judge the world. He will bring about justice by destroying the Devil, demons, and sinful humans in hell. And Jesus will restore and make new the heavens and earth. All people who trust and follow Jesus will live with God in His Kingdom on the new Heaven and new earth. In the end... "the Kingdom of the world will become the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever."

This is our message... Jesus is King and God's Kingdom has come

SO What?

What does the arrival of the Kingdom of God mean for college students now?

King Jesus can change your life both now and forever. Anyone can turn from their sinful life and come back into a relationship with God not by being a good person, or knowing the Bible, but by simply trusting and following King Jesus. You can be saved simply by the grace of God through faith in King Jesus. You can come back into a relationship with God and live an abundant life both now and forever by trusting and following King Jesus!

And when you do here's what will happen. Your sins will be forgiven, the Spirit of Jesus will live in you, you will receive eternal life, you're a part of the family of God (the church), and you get to change the world by making disciples of all nations.

The arrival of the Kingdom of God is Good News for you!

Now What?

What do we do now in response to the Kingdom of God coming?

Trust and follow King Jesus. Turn from your sinful way of life, confess that Jesus is King of your life and all the universe, and surrender every area of your life to Jesus.

When you've trusted Jesus it's time to be baptized! Baptism is a physical picture of the spiritual reality that by grace through faith in the risen King Jesus the old you is dead and the new you has been raised up to live a new life by the Spirit of Jesus. Jesus was baptized and King Jesus commanded all His disciples to be baptized. So be baptized. But baptism isn't the finish line, baptism is just the starting line of your life long journey with Jesus.

Once  you've been baptized, you have a new identity, a new lifestyle, and a new end goal for your life! Now the life you live is the life Jesus lived. What does the life you live look like? Love God. Love People. Make Disciples.
